Karma night club owner pleads ‘not guilty’

As the dust has settled a few weeks after a recent shooting at the Karma nightclub at 1907 White Plains Road in Morris Park, community members have stepped forwards again with concerns about why the club has not yet been shut down.  Comment.

Star of Sea Cadets

The Star Of The Sea - Sea Cadet Corps held their 54th Annual Military Review and Promotion Exercise at St. Frances de Chantal school on Saturday, June 21. The event featured performances from the Vanguard Trick Drill Team under the command of 2nd Lt. Jose Zavala, and the Phantom Regiment Infantry Drill Team under the command of Col. Joseph Ronda. Also featured in the event were two drill competitions for the junior and senior cadets. The members worked hard throughout the year and were presented with various awards. Comments (1).

Is it me or do you also find that everyone you speak to is either on blood pressure or cholesterol medication?  It seems that acceptable numbers for both conditions are getting lower and lower and I’m beginning to think that it’s being driven by pharmaceutical companies and not science! Comment.

Community Board10

Community Board10 has learned that a group home has been proposed for a property located at 2992 Lawton Avenue in Throggs Neck.  The sponsors of the home are the Institutes of Applied Human Dynamics, and they plan to house 3 to 8 developmentally disabled adults at the property. The board has scheduled a public meeting for Tuesday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Ft. Schuyler House, located at 3077 Cross Bronx Expressway.  The board’s next article will report on the proceedings of this meeting. Comment.

Hard Rock Cafe planned for Yankee Stadium

As the new Yankee stadium rises next to the house that Ruth built and Reggie maintained, it seems like the straw that stirs the drink at the new facility will be found at the Hard Rock Café. Comment.
