S. Bronx wins fitness championship

Setting a record pace, the boys of South Bronx won their second straight National High School Physical Fitness Championship in San Diego, California last week, and they did it for two special fallen friends.  Comment.

Preston clinches Bronx/Westchester title

As the Preston Panthers go into the CHSAA softball playoffs this week, they do so as the Bronx/Westchester champions.  Comment.

Only days after Lehman High School’s Domenica Regina pitched a gem in a 5-2 win over Hunter College High School, the Bronx pitcher’s continued journey from a collision at the plate that broke her face two years ago stalled in two straight losses, dropping Lehman to third place in the Bronx A Division.  Comment.

Columbus avenges lacrosse loss

After a long wait, last year’s lacrosse wars between Lehman and Columbus were finally rekindled on Tuesday, May 6, with the Explorers slipping past the Lions 8-7 off a goal by Alejandro Gonzalez with only 14 seconds remaining in regulation.  Comment.

Monroe squeaks by Walton; Clinton on way of title

Monroe 3 – Walton 2: Monroe (12-1) moved one step closer to clinching the Bronx A East with help from Elias Todman (2-for-3, 1 R), Juan Arroyo (2-for-4, 1 R), Raymond Molina (2-for-3, 1 RBI), and Resto Cruz (2-for-2, 1 RBI, 1 Double).  Arroyo (7 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 5 K’s) pitched a classic.  For Walton (9-5), who took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 4th inning, Ronny Vargas (3-for-3, 1 R, 2 doubles) and Joel Delorbe (6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 HP, 5 K’s) played strong in the loss.  Comment.
