Anna Ramos. In keeping with the school’s theme of Spirit of Community and Family for the month of December, this event will bring community members into the school building for an opportunity to buy poinsettias, baked goods, new and gently used toys, games, clothes, books, CDs and more. Do You Remember

Earlier this week I was thinking about the statue of Archbishop John Hughes located on the Rose Hill Campus of Fordham University. This led to thoughts of the man who sculpted the statue. Oddly, he was a Confederate soldier from Virginia who had relocated to the Bronx after the Civil War. Although he was not trained as a sculptor, he became somewhat renowned in that field and was welcomed into the ranks of the Society of American Sculptors and the Architectural League. As his fame grew, he was also inducted as an associate of the National Academy of Design. Read more…

Municipal Credit Union recently joined in partnership with Pathmark Supermarkets, a division of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (better known as A&P) to place MCU ATM’s in 16 of their stores. All of them are located in the New York metropolitan area, and they bring MCU’s proprietary network up to 178 machines. The deployment of the Pathmark machines took place over the course of six weeks beginning in October, with the last going live in early November, and the results so far in terms of member utilization have been excellent.
