A new RadioShack opened recently at 8 W. Fordham Road with a brand new design they unveiled to the public during a grand opening celebration on the weekend of April 25-27.
To commemorate the occasion, RadioShack featured a 10% discount on selected merchandise, and customers received an opportunity to win prize packages that included either an EX-S10 10MP digital camera, 4GB SD card and $100 RadioShack Gift Card; a 40GB Sony PS3 Gaming System and $100 RadioShack Gift Card; or a 16GB iPod touch and $100 RadioShack Gift Card.
Residents also received a new shopping experience.
The new 2,500 square foot store, the 320th in the city, features RadioShack’s latest contemporary design offering warm, inviting colors, an intuitive customer-friendly layout, enhanced signage, better hands-on product displays, clearer sight lines for ease of shopping from the front to back of the store, and enhanced check-out areas for quick hassle-free transactions.
“We’re constantly adjusting our store locations to best serve the needs of local customers,” said district manager Jose Galvez. “In the process, we’re continually working to upgrade our store shopping environment to ensure customers enjoy the experience and easily find the best and latest solutions to their consumer electronics needs.”
The store design also allows customers the ability to experience expanded RadioShack offerings of such new products as GPS devices, digital converter boxes, digital imaging devices, portable digital music players, wireless phones and plans from Sprint/Nextel and AT&T, satellite radios, computers, a complete line up of batteries, gaming consoles, flat panel LCD TVs, and various accessories.
“We think the new location and redesign of this store will be a great asset for customers who either work or live around that neighborhood and have come to depend on RadioShack for personalized technology solutions,” said Galvez.
While another location is within walking distance of the store, the new store is much closer for residents who live farther down the west end of Fordham Road towards the river.
Purchasing much needed batteries for her remote control, “I used to go up to the Concourse, but this one is much closer,” Wendy Diaz said. “I live right up the block and it’s great.”
Jose Ramos went in for a cell phone charger and came out with the charger and video game, an ode to the new selection of items and a lost art of business, explained by the friendly and good-natured manager A.V. Blake.
“Customer service, customer service, customer service, “ said Blake, who stressed a commitment to excellence. “We’re all about customer service.”
The new RadioShack is open, Mondays through Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For information, call (718) 933-7027.
