St. Ray’s student signs letter of intent

St. Raymond High School’s Sylvester Inda has signed a national letter of intent to run track at Saint Peter’s College of New Jersey, becoming the first track athlete at the Bronx school in five years to earn a full, Division I athletic scholarship in track.

Originally from Kenya, Inda and his family moved to the Bronx where Inda has received a quality education while becoming a star in the classroom and both track and soccer for St. Raymond High School.

After being recruited by La Salle University, University of Hartford, and Adelphi, Inda chose Saint Peter’s for its academic and athletic programs.

“I wanted to major in Psychology and felt most comfortable at Saint Peter’s,” he stated.

At Saint Peter’s, Inda will compete against the likes of Fairfield University, Marist College and Manhattan College in the M.A.A.C., as well as regional and national tournaments.

Coach Matt Williams, also a St. Raymond graduate, says that, “Sylvester maintains a great attitude and the type of work ethic will continue to pay off at the college level.”
