Hemi lays down the drum riff on the ironically short and engaging “Eight Feet Tall Six Feet Wide” with the band joining him in hammering out odd super tight time signatures while Vinny leads the band with his never lets up vocal confidence. “Bulldozer” is track ten and the power keeps on coming. It’s like Urbansnake has so many riffs they lay them down with abandon that most bands would wish for a fifth of some of the stuff that is being thrown away as afterthoughts here.
“Urbansnake-Whiteknuckle” features the best packaging I’ve encountered in a long time. A lot of thought and style went into this project. It has a supreme gatefold, full lyrics and great photos by Alvin Thompson with Blade and John Distefano. The CD was produced by Tarik Salongi (the mastermind behind many local projects and now the musical director/soundman at our areas best rock club The Haunt.) Urbansnake also produced with Tarik. This CD is quality all the way; heavy rock in the style of your most favorite driving bands like Priest and Dio era Sabbath with grungier vocals. Go to Urbansnake.com for a free download and links to the online stores to buy it.
ITEM: I just want to say this: I do believe sometimes that the end supports the means but it some cases it may not. That being said, I think its unfair how little coverage the encouraging progress in Iraq is getting. The silence on the matter is very telling. I guess the media only reports news that fits their agenda. God forbid a soldier is killed there again; that’s when you’ll get some new lead stories happening. Whether we should have been there in the first place OR whether Bush and Rumsfeld should have taken the whole thing more seriously in the beginning is up for debate by people much smarter than me. PS–To the media, who claims to support the troops: It’s not support when you only report death and not progress.
Rock on. Rock out.
