Samuel Young Legion Post 620

Hello all!

I took last week off as there was nothing to write about.

This week I have less. However, we’ll make this a reminder column.

I’m writing this column on the Fourth of July, so happy birthday America!

July 19 is our Yard Sale. This is Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

Remember the vet’s education package which has been approved and signed into law. This package covers the entire four years of college includes tuition, books, fees, living expenses and career troops share these benefits with their dependents. These bennies are worth $38,000 to $80,000. So folks, take advantage of this. See the guidance counselor at the college of your choice or the VA to start the paper-work going.

Next week I’ll make arrangements for the BBQ at the VA. So stay tuned.

I said this would be a lite column.

Trivia Time!!

The Battle of Gettysburg took place from July 1-3, 1863. Can any one tell me where?

Teddy Roosevelt took San Juan Hill on July 1, 1898.

On the same date in 1966, Medicare went into effect.

Garfield was shot on July 2, 1881. The President not the cat. He died on September 19. Must have been a small bullet.

Amelia Earhart disappeared on July 2, 1937.

Keep the troops in your prayers, take a vet to lunch and God bless.
