Montefiore presents annual awards

Six associates from Montefiore Medical Center received the 26th Annual President’s Award at the Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees.

The President’s Award is the highest honor attainable by Montefiore associates. This prestigious award has been given annually since 1981 to recognize consistent, outstanding performance that exemplifies Montefiore Excellence Standards of Behavior (RESPECT) and role models for associates throughout key areas of the organization.

The honorees include Maria Serrano, RN; Mario Greco, Cathy Cahill, RNC, Denise Taylor, Angie Gill and Sandra Barnaby, RN.

Nurse practitioner Maria Serrano, RN, was cited for her consistent efforts to explain medical care to patients, instilling confidence during stressful times.

Greco, service associate in Environmental Services, was recognized for  mentoring new associates and making them feel welcome.

Cahill, RNC, the award winner for The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, was recognized for her insight and efforts dealing with unexpected challenges in transitioning new programs such as a new dialysis facility.

Taylor, operations manager and Montefiore Medical Group honoree, was recognized for building a cohesive team at the Bronx East location.

Gill, a physical therapist at Montefiore Home care, was honored as the most requested clinician by name.

Barnaby, RN, manager of chronic care programs, was selected for developing an original tool to help patients understand the instructions they receive in a physician’s office.
