Throggs Neck Merchants Association

Thank you to all the merchants who were present at our last meeting held July 30 at the Eastside Grill.  Thank you to Eastside Grill for having such a fantastic display of food for our guests.  We were also fortunate to have two great guest speakers, John Bonizio, president of the Westchester Square Merchants, who spoke about the benefits of forming a BID;  and Councilman David Yasky from Brooklyn who spoke about some proposals he has brought to the NYC Council to help small business owners.  We thank both of these men for taking the time out of their busy lives to come speak at our meeting.

One of the topics discussed at our meeting was that of the next Throggs Neck Merchant Sidewalk Sale.

We have decided to schedule the next date for Saturday, October 11.  We hope to make this one the best yet.

Please save the date to bring your children out for a day of fun and free giveaways.

As more details are available, we will keep you informed.

The Throggs Neck Merchants Association is sad to see Captain McSorley leaving the 45th Precinct.  He was there to hear our concerns and address them immediately.  He was a great community leader, and we wish him luck and look forward to working with his successor.

Another close friend of the merchant association who will be retiring soon is Bob Bieder of B.O.E.D.C.  We will miss his guidance and wish Bob good luck in his future endeavors.    An invitation goes out to the community for those of you who would like to come to our 1st annual dinner dance, which will be held on October 16.

For an admission fee of only $75 per person, we hope to see a great turnout from the community.

The honorees will be Councilman Jimmy Vacca, Barbara Perrone of the Penny Pincher and James McQuade of Schyuler Hill Funeral Home.

If you are interested in attending, please call John Cerini at (718) 829-3200.
