THURS, AUG. 7th, 3:20 a.m. – 585 East 137 St. A weapon was recovered by responding police officers after shots rang out. Police were informed that several shots had been discharged and responding officers recovered evidence that supported the original report. A suspect was arrested; a gun was recovered, besides the evidence. No injuries were reported.
SAT, AUG. 9th, 12:20 a.m. – 625 East 141 St. Police officers were summoned to a double shooting. Arriving officers found a 21-year-old black male who had been shot once in the stomach. The second victim was described as a 26-year-old black man was suffering from a wound to the right leg when located by authorities.
MON, AUG. 11th, 7:40 a.m. – 628 Courtlandt Ave. Local detectives are waiting for the results of the Medical Examiners report concerning the death of a 28-year-old Hispanic male. The victim was found in a bedroom lying face down on the floor according to officials. Once the autopsy is complete, investigators will have additional information to assist them with the inquiry.
TUES, AUG. 12th, 9:40 p.m. – 1035 Longwood Ave. A 31-year-old Hispanic male was arrested after he was found in possession of an illegal 44-caliber revolver. The male culprit could face a year in jail.
SUN, AUG. 10th, 1:25 p.m. – 1769 Southern Blvd. An unidentified black male made off with a thousand dollars officials report. The thief armed with a gun robbed a store and fled on foot along Southern Blvd.
TUES, AUG. 12th, 4:45 p.m. – 1679 Southern Blvd A 47 year old black woman apparently took her own life. Officials indicated that the woman jumped from the roof of a building. She expired at Lincoln Medical Center despite medical effects to save her.
TUES, AUG. 12th, 11:35 p.m. – 730 East 165 St. A 14 year old boy was treated at Lincoln Medical Center after being shot, but an older male was not as lucky as the teen. The teen only suffered a bullet wound to the arm while the older male was shot in the head and expired at the crime scene. Detectives are assigned to conduct an inquiry.
THURS, AUG. 7th, 11:25 a.m. – 1265 Olmstead Ave. A 45-caliber pistol was taken off the streets of Unionport after police officers arrested the person who was in possession of the weapon.
THURS, AUG. 7th, 10:30 p.m. – White Plains Rd. and Archer St. Officers from Highway 1’s Accident Investigation Squad were dispatched to the busy intersection near the Parkchester complex. A motorcycle struck a pedestrian. The victim was reported to be critical condition and transported to Jacobi Medical Center. Authorities arrested the motorcycle operator on vari-ous traffic violations.
FRI, AUG. 8th, 1:45 a.m. – 1321 Rosedale Ave. An inquiry got underway as police officers arrived at the site of a shoot-ing. A male had been shot in the leg. He was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
FRI, AUG. 8th, 3:05 a.m. – 1240 Havermeyer Ave. Authorities indicated that a 41-year-old Hispanic man might have taken his own life. The man was found dead lying in a tub with a bullet wound to the head.
FRI, AUG. 8th, 12:08 a.m. – East 165 St. and River Ave. Detectives were quickly summoned to the scene of a fatal shooting. A black male about 30 years old was found with a bullet wound to the head inside a vehicle that was parked near Yan-kee Stadium.
FRI, AUG. 8th, 11:00 a.m. – East 173 St. and Clay Ave. Police nabbed one of the two males who robbed a livery cab driver. The livery cab driver picked up two male passengers at East 170 St. and Grand Concourse. The driver was directed to proceed to the “McDonald’s” at Webster Ave. and Clay Ave. While in the parking lot, one of the passengers pulled out a handgun while the second culprit removed eighty dollars from the driver. The pair fled into a nearby park. Police respond to the area and nab the man who had the eighty dollars in his possession. The second man escaped.
SUN, AUG. 10th, 7:10 p.m. – 2 East 169 St. Two persons were arrested by patrol officers as a semi-automatic pistol was taken off of the streets. The 9-mm pistol will be held as evidence pending a trail.
MON, AUG. 11th, 2:50 a.m. – Jerome Ave. and Mt. Eden Ave. A male suspect arrested after posing as a police officer. The male pulled his vehicle up behind the victim’s vehicle and started to flash his headlights at a rapid speed. He them bumped the victim’s vehicle. Upon approaching the victim, the male imposter stated, “I’m the police let me see your license or I will arrest you.” The victim complied with the request and the license was returned. The pretender left the scene, being followed by the victim to a bar. A passing police vehicle was stopped, and the real police officers arrested the pretender.
MON, AUG. 11th, 5:20 a.m. – 1650 Grand Concourse. A 25-year-old man walked into Bronx Lebanon Hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. As the man was being treated police were enroute to the medical facility to start an investigation. Upon check on the victim officials learned that he was wanted in Rhode Island for a previous homicide. Local police arrested him.
FRI, AUG. 8th, 2:05 a.m. – Bruckner Expwy. and Waterbury Ave. Emergency units responded to the area on the busy in-terstate roadway after a dump truck struck a pedestrian overpass. Emergency personnel halted all traffic since a portion of the overpass was reduced to rubble. Traffic back ups were reported from Long Island to New Jersey, and even into Conn. Witnesses indicated that the bed of the truck was up in the air prior to the truck striking the overpass. Only the dump truck driver was in-jured
SAT, AUG. 9th, 9:55 p.m. – 749 Logan Ave. A search was conducted for a gray colored vehicle that three males used to make a get away. The three unknown males culprits at gunpoint invaded their victims home. The occupant was secured and the culprits fled with an unknown amount of money in the gray vehicle.
MON, AUG. 11th, 9:30 a.m. – Seddon Ave. and Feller St. Police are investigating a threat that was made against a traffic agent. This time a female agent was verbally threaten that she would be shot. The incident is under investigation.
WED, AUG. 6th, 5:45 p.m. – Park Ave. and East 180 St. The staff at St. Barnabas Hospital treated three injured persons. The three victims were injured in a two-vehicle accident, which included a police vehicle. Two police officers received minor injuries according to officials.
FRI, AUG. 8th, 12:55 a.m. – 2271 Walton Ave. Police arrested an off duty Corrections Officer. The unidentified public servant was charged with obstruction of government administration.
MON, AUG. 11th, 4:00 p.m. – Grand Concourse and East 188 St. Police arrested a teenager who was in possession of a gun. Shocking, the culprit was a 16-year-old black female. Recovered from the teen was a 380-caliber pistol.
TUES, AUG. 12th, 7:25 a.m. – Jerome Ave. and Burnside Ave. Local police took a 33-year-old man into custody. The male culprit was nabbed while adding graffiti to the steel columns of the IRT train system.
TUES, AUG. 12th, 3:15 p.m. – 53 West 175 St. Officials are looking into the death of a 39-year-old woman. The victim was found on the bedroom floor with indications that the incident was a suicide. Detectives have asked the Medical Examiners office to conduct a full autopsy to see if there was any foul play.
SAT, AUG. 9th, 12:05 a.m. – Roberson Ave. Authorities are looking into a report that shots had been fired. The bullets were fired into a vehicle, but no injuries were reported. Detectives have been assigned to the inquiry.
MON, AUG. 11th, 4:10 a.m. – East 233 St. and Dyre Ave. Detectives are trying to gather all the evidence and informa-tion about a shooting and its victim. A 22-year-old Hispanic male was found inside a vehicle that was parked in the Baychester community with a bullet wound to the head.
MON, AUG. 11th, 4:50 p.m. – 3425 Gunter Ave. A male and female team robbed a 44-year-old black male. At gunpoint the two black culprits fled with the victim’s vehicle. The victim escaped injuries.
MON, AUG. 11th, 10:30 p.m. – Webster Ave. and East 233 St. An 18 year old Hispanic male was arrested after he was found in possession of an illegal gun.
TUES, AUG. 12th, 11:30 a.m. – East 236 St. and Ely Ave. Police officials are looking into a report that a male had been shot. The victim walked into Jacobi Medical Center several days after the shooting occurred looking for medical help for a wound to a facial area. Detectives will conduct the inquiry.
FRI, AUG. 8th, 11:15 a.m. – Third Ave. and East 189 St. A traffic officer required medical assistance after being as-saulted. The agent was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and treated for a cut lip. The attacker fled.
SAT, AUG. 9th, 4:05 a.m. – 2115 Hughes Ave. Authorities were alerted that a man suffering from several bullet wounds arrived at St. Barnabas Hospital seeking help. Two unknown males in the building’s lobby according to investigators shot the man. The victim was suffering from wounds to the wrist, arm, and leg areas.
SAT, AUG. 9th, 10:30 p.m. – Southern Blvd. and East 180 St. A woman was taken to a near by hospital after receiving a glazed wound to the head. The staff at St. Barnabas Hospital treated the woman as additional police officers started to search the area. An armed suspect was arrested in the general area of the incident by police officers who were conducting the commu-nity search. A police vehicle whose crew was assigned to the shooting incident also injured a pedestrian. The victim was also transported to St. Barnabas Hospital reported to be in stable condition.
WED, AUG. 6th, 8:40 p.m. – 2715 Cruger Ave. Authorities ordered local police officers to look into a report of shots be-ing fired, Arriving police officers indicated that shots had been discharged since bullet shells was discovered besides traces of blood were present. Local police officers canvassed area hospitals but found no victims. The investigation continues.
SAT, AUG. 9th, 12:15 p.m. – White Plains Rd. and Pelham Pkwy. A search was conducted for a motorist who assaulted a traffic agent. The motorist apparently pushed the traffic enforcement agent. An inquiry is underway.
TUES, AUG. 12th, 6:50 p.m. – 2541 Olinville Ave. Police arrested a 43-year-old black male. The man was charged with obstructing governmental administration and the harassment of a traffic enforcement agent.
WED, AUG. 6th, 6:05 p.m. – 2525 University Ave. A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged with the assault of an on duty traffic agent.
FRI, AUG. 8th, 4:30 p.m. – East 196 St. and Grand Concourse. A city traffic officer required medical assistance after be-ing attacked. The city worker was taken to an area hospital with a knee injury. Responding police officers arrested the attacker.
SAT, AUG. 9th, 4:05 a.m. – Decatur Ave. and East 204 St. Carrying a bullet in his shoulder, a bleeding male waked into St. Barnabas Hospital seeking assistance. The man was shot in the Norwood community, but managed to get to the hospital on his own. Detectives have been assigned to the inquiry.
MON, AUG. 11th, 2:40 p.m. – 42 West Fordham Rd. A 50-year-old black male was stabbed once in the left arm. The victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition as investigators processed the arrest forms for a suspect.
SAT, AUG. 9th, 4:35 p.m. – 340 Alexander Ave. Police from the 40th Pct. at a city-housing complex arrested a 23-year-old man. Undercover police officers nabbed a 23-year-old black male who was in possession of a stolen gun. Recovered by po-lice was an illegal 38-caliber pistol. Officials learned that the gun had been previously stolen.
SAT, AUG. 9th, 10:00 a.m. – East 182 St. and Grand Concourse. Electrical power was removed from the “D” train below ground right-away as police officers from the 46th Pct. and Transit District 11 searched for a culprit who was wanted in connec-tion with a strong armed robbery. Police searched along the southbound side of the train tunnel looking for the culprit. The search proved negative, indicating that the culprit had fled. Service was resumed 90 minutes after the search began.
SAT, AUG. 9th, 5:20 p.m. – East 138 St. and Jackson Ave. Undercover Transit Police Officers nabbed a suspect wanted for a robbery aboard a northbound number 5 IRT train. The culprit was taken into custody at Westchester Ave. and Trinity Ave. after leaving the transit system.
WED, AUG. 6th, 3:45 a.m. – 15 West Moshulo Pkwy. Fire officials generated the response of Fire Marshals from their Queens base after deeming an apartment house blaze suspicious. The blaze was contained to two vacant apartments on differ-ent floors but it took over a dozen fire units to extinguish the flames. The incident was confirmed as a two-alarm fire with the second alarm being transmitted at 4:09 a.m. It was not until 4:33 a.m. that Division 7 declared the fire under control.
WED, AUG. 6th, 10:10 p.m. – 550 East 180 St. Seven stores burned in a blaze that when to five-alarms before it was totally extinguished despite the fact that firefighters were on the scene in two minutes. Arriving units quickly summoned addi-tional help and Battalion 19 requested an additional engine and ladder company to supplement the first alarm response. Fire was in a one store commercial building commonly called a ‘taxpayer.’ Adjacent to the building is a major substation for Con Edison. Division 7 ordered a second alarm at 10:18 p.m. since there was evidence that the fire had gotten possession of the cockloft and was spreading. Five minutes went by before firefighters were ordered to withdraw from conducting an interior fire extinguish-ments attack. Tower Ladders were being set up and an additional tower ladder was requested. There were reports that the fire was burning through the roof and that part of the building collapsed. Next firefighters entered the Con Edison yard to establish positions to help contain the spreading flames. Hose lines were stretched to these positions and placed quickly into operation by engine crews as flames were leaping about the building. At 10:42 p.m. a third alarm was transmitted, followed by a 4th alarm at 11:20 p.m. and the 5th alarm at 11:42 p.m. Before it was all over, three Tower Ladders were in operation in addition to 8 hose lines. The fire was totally declared under control at 12:52 a.m. by Chief Galvin the City-Wide Tour Commander. Crews from the Emergency Medical Services treated 19 injured firefighters.
THURS, AUG. 7th, 1:15 a.m. – 1113 Sheridan Ave. Authorities were questioning a 55-year-old black male. The inquiry has to due with a suspicious fire that occurred in a residential building that injured six persons. The blaze was located on the first floor of the six-story dwelling. Most of the local fire companies were busy at the five-alarm fire, but fire companies from Manhat-tan and Queens previously covered some of the empty fire stations prior to this blaze being reported. The blaze was out of the apartment when firefighters arrived permitting smoke and heat to escape into the public hallway increasing the dangers of their jobs. Two hose lines were quickly stretched and made operational. A fire officer climbed to the 6th floor finding Zakariah Fofna, 18, unconscious, lying face down in the public hallway. The seriously injured teen was transported to Bronx Lebanon Hospital. The fire was declared under control at 1:45 a.m. Five other persons were injured in the blaze and were treated by ambulance crews besides two firefighters.
