I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend this year’s block party. I understand many families had prior plans that could not be broken. This year’s block party was dedicated to John Lesnick, Sr., a longtime Ferry Point resident and Nettie Sohmers, my mother-in-law. Both recently passed away and whose presence was sorely missed.
It was so wonderful to see all the residents, our members, and their families at such a happy occasion. We had great weather, good food, games for the kids, and lots of fun. This year we were very excited because our vice president, Jackie Pineda, volunteered to do face painting for all the children. Their adorable faces lit up with excitement as they indulged in all the activities planned for this special day.
We are very pleased that Senator Jeff Klein, Councilman Vacca, and Assemblyman Michael Benedetto, as well as a Community Board 10 representative were able to stop by and meet and greet our community members. We are also thankful for Pepsi’s generous donation of soda, water and T-shirts. Everyone had a great time and we look forward to doing it again next year. To all our new residents who are now members, yes, this is an annual event.
