Bronx elected officials support Civil Court candidate

Bronx elected officials including Assembly members Aurelia Green, Michael Benjamin, Michael Benedetto, Ruben Diaz, Jr., Jeffrey Dinowitz, and Carl Heastie, Senators Rev. Ruben Diaz, Sr., Eric Schneiderman, and Ruth Hassell-Thompson formally endorsed Elizabeth Taylor for Civil Court Judge on the steps of the Bronx Court House.

Elizabeth A. Taylor, a Bronx native, has an impressive resume with experience ranging from legislative aide in the New York City Council, Senior Court Attorney to Justice Edgar G. Walker (Bronx Criminal Court), and presently as Principal Law Clerk to New York State Supreme Court Justice Kenneth L. Thompson, Jr., in the Civil Term of Bronx Supreme Court.

Assemblywoman Aurelia Greene said “Elizabeth Taylor is unequivocally the most qualified candidate for Civil Court judge. Her exemplary work experience in the Courts and her commitment to public service are the attributes that the public should demand in a judge.”

Assemblyman Ruben Diaz, Jr. added “It is a pleasure and an honor to endorse this extraordinary woman. I encourage voters to look beyond the politics as usual candidates and vote for Elizabeth Taylor based on her experience and intelligence.”

Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz said “Elizabeth Taylor’s work as a principal law clerk to a state supreme court justice, as an adjunct professor, as past president of the Metropolitan Women’s Bar Association, as an arbitrator in small claims court and as the founder and president of the Thurgood Marshall Junior Mock Trial Program give her extraordinary qualifications and experience. We in the Bronx must insist that qualifications come before politics and that we deserve an independent judiciary free from politics. I am proud to endorse the highly qualified, independent candidate for judge: Elizabeth Taylor.”

According to Assemblyman Michael Benjamin, “Elizabeth Taylor is a superb court attorney. Her knowledge of the law and her expertise will make her an excellent civil court judge. I am pleased to endorse her.

“The civil court is the people’s court, and we want to elect someone who best represents the needs of that constituency. Elizabeth Taylor is that person,” stated Assemblyman Michael Benedetto.

Assemblyman Carl Heastie stated, “Elizabeth Taylor has one of the most impressive resumes I have ever seen and is by far the most qualified candidate.”

Senator Diaz Sr. said, “I am delighted to endorse Elizabeth Taylor. She is not only the best candidate, but her work to help the youth in the community through the Thurgood Marshall Junior Mock Trial Program serves as an indication that she is committed to every community throughout the Bronx. I encourage every Bronxite to proudly vote for Elizabeth Taylor.”

“Sorry I am not able to be here today but Elizabeth Taylor has my full support for her candidacy for Civil Court Judge. I am hoping that people will come out and support her, as I am, for we need people like Elizabeth who know the law and can blend it with compassion,” said Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson.
