AFC Rapid Soccer season shifts into full weekend play

Due to Hurricane Hannah, the annual AFC Rapid opening day parade was canceled on Sunday, September 7, but the slate of matches was played. The highlights are as follows:

Carpet Expo pulled the rug over St. Benedict’s K of C, 2-1 in a well played match. Tyler Loughrey and Idrees Hanif had a goal each with offensive help from the Gray brothers, Robby and Brandon. The vacuum cleaners on defense were fullbacks Matthew O’Hara, Matthew Loughrey and goalie Billy Gilbert Lardner.

Vito’s Deli “sliced up” Lasting Impressions, 3-0. The slicing machines were manned by the Von Kessels, Chis, Steven and Jessica, with one score each. Connor Piri and Steven Martinez assisted on “O.” On “D” were Anthony Russo and Patrick Baumgardner. Blaise Narcisco pitched a shutout in the net.

Crosstown Diner tied Soma Health Center, 2-2. Scoring for the wait staff at Crosstown were Emily Gaudio and Alana Martino. Excellent offensive play came from Nonis Nicodemis and Amanda Capugo. Anchoring the defense were Micael Iancitto, Christopher Guarino, and keeper, Angenise Rosario.

Edgewater’s tide “washed away” Bear Bus, 4-1. The leading athletes on offense were Kyle Brandstetter (2), Brian Kimmel (1) and Allyssa Hill (1). Additional stellar “O” from Conner Ninavaggi. Holding down he scoring was the goalie tandem of Tommy Marley and Aiden Kimmel as well as fullback, D J Byrne.

P. Wynne, Attorney “passed judgment on” Dolphin Fitness, 2-0. The firm had top prosecutors Jacob Alonso (2) and Samantha Alonso, Defense attorney, Nikoletta Marku.

Silvestri Carpet “tacked down” Spoto’s Restaurant, 2-1.

The top installers were Justin Fitzgerald (2), Mark McKay and Jomathan Keeney. Keeping the waiters away were Dennis Golden and Brendan Tighe in the net.

Al-Boro Security cut the strings of Fiddlers Elbow, 2-0. Strong play from the Fiddlers was shown by Samir Koti, Alexandra Rachiele and Austin Haney.

Barino’s Market played a game of Peek-a-boo with Peek-a-Boo Child Care, 2-1. The offense was carried by Marika Popvich and Veronica Aquino which led to two goals from Joseph DelGrosso. The “D” was supplied by Stefanie Barret, Zachary Smith and keeper, Aiden Velez.

Carrillo Construction “bricked up” McDonald’s, 3-0. Scoring was shared equally by Alan Hoti, Francisco Perri and Javier Carrillo. Standouts on “O” were Danny Kimmel, Miles Crorkin and Gabriel Giordano. On “D” were J.D. Dundon,Justinj McConville and Ray McCann. Fliping burbgers were En rique Concepion, Stephanie Santos,Richard Rodriquez, Nikko Banas, Braqndon Waldron and Elsa Lopez.

Porco Public Accounting “clogged the pipes” at 3rd Ave Plumbing, 4-0. Xavier Sanchez (3) and Briana Martin (1) did the scoring for Porco. The offensive support came from Frank Turul, Anthony Cuomo and Estaban Rivera. The defensive wall was formed by Ariana Villani, Mia Marie Aquino and Julliana Ciaccua. Standout players for 3rd Ave were Amber Caputo, Kyle Williams, Frank Merona, Ryan Deluca and Patrick Henie.

NCJA Income Tax squeaked by Milea Auto Sales,1-0. The lone goal of the match was scored by Eric Stein on a penalty kick. Offense for NCJA supplied by Mohammed Arifov, Keith Lancaster and John Healy. Defense from Michael Di Preta, Stefanie Lanaro and Michael Healy. Outstanding play for Milea was given by Lauren Shnepf, Angelica Civette, Owen Madigan, James Albertelli and Stefan Stranzl

Schuyler Hill F.H. defeated Capital Shield Agency, 2-1. Scoring was shared for Schuyler Hill by Sarah O’Keefe and Majella Sheehan. Other strong play from Luca Policicchio, Angelo Ejiloi, Anthony Cacace and Michael Martinez Perry. The lone score for Capital Shield came from Julia DiMarco with help from Brenda Seone, Rebecca Cerini, Luke Cunaj, Dayesha Colon, Nicholas Matranga and Justin Diaboldo in net.

In a scoring fest , Ann Clair Deli outlasted International Caterers, 5-2. Ann Clair’s offensive punch was supplied by Pietro Piccirilloo, Alexis King, Andrew Goworek, Julianna Perduzzi. The “D” came from Catherine Ficke and Justin Meade. Goals for the Caterers were scored by Charley Ann Casali and Vincent Reith. Other strong performances from John Ojeda, James Leiry, Anthony Aromando and Kira Vellegas.
