Three illegal dumpers nabbed in the act

The Department of Sanitation’s Citywide Illegal Dumping Task Force seized and impounded three vehicles that were involved in incidents of illegal Bronx dumping during the month of August. The DSNY Task Force, composed of plainclothes Sanitation Police Officers, monitors known dumping locations and seizes the vehicles of illegal dumpers caught in the act of violating the law.

Currently, fines start at $1,500 and range as high as $20,000 per summons. In addition, the illegal dumper must pay the city a cleanup cost for the illegally dumped material, generally about $150 per cubic yard.

The incidents involved: David Lodge, Mt. Vernon, in front of 4220 Boston Road, 1993 white van, dumped approximately two cubic yards of broken concrete; Stepan Kozak, Bronx, Bullard Avenue between 241st and 242nd streets, 2001 white Ford E250, dumped approximately one cubic yard of construction waste; and Edwin Idrovo, Hillside, NJ, E. 166th Street and Prospect Avenue, 2009 red Peterbilt truck, dumped approximately six cubic yards of C&D.
