Jacobi Medical Center has reached another milestone with the ribbon cutting for its new Ambulatory Care Pavilion.
The pavilion, located at 1400 Pelham Parkway South, Building 8, celebrated its opening on Wednesday, September 24. The building has a total of 120,000 square feet on four stories, dedicated to 233 exam and treatment rooms, developed for out-patient care services.
According to senior vice president, William Walsh, “our new Ambulatory Care Pavilion is a stunning compliment to our recently constructed in-patient facility and allows us to provide our patients with high-quality care in a modern, state-of-the-art environment.”
The first floor is designated to children’s health, including treatment facilities for adolescence, allergy, cardiac, chest, diabetes, endocrine, hematology, neurology, renal, weight management, well-baby and pediatric primary care.
The surgery and surgical specialties floor, on the second level, will have direct access to operating rooms, a post-anesthesia care unit, intensive care unit, and burn unit. A retinal photo room, laser room, and cast room are just some of the areas included as well.
Women’s health facilities will be featured on the third floor, and include areas designated for ultrasounds, fetal monitoring, urodynamics, colposcopy, family planning, genetics, and post-treatment areas.
The fourth floor is geared towards a variety of primary care medicine, and features a passageway to other in-patient and ancillary services located in an adjacent building.
To minimize complication and confusion for visitors and guests, the pavilion is color-coded by clinical modules, known in the facility as pods.
The main lobby is a multi-story glass galleria, featuring art by Milton Hebald and Donald DeLue, which maximizes natural light and allows a view of the hospital’s garden courtyard. In addition this area features a ground-level passageway to the original hospital structure.
