Korony American Legion Post 253

Around The County

Legislative Breakfast will be October 5 at the Turner Club. We hope everyone had a great time at the golf outing.

Around The

Community

On October 11, there will be the Throggs Neck Merchants Fair down E. Tremont Avenue. Any DJs, magicians or other fun acts can all John Cerini of the Throggs Neck Merchants Association at (718) 829-3200 and get in on a great day for the neighborhood.

On October 12, there will be the Annual Columbus Day Parade for the Morris Park community. I’m going to try some Legion recruiting – any helpers out there?

Around The Post

The next meeting of Korony Post 253 will be at the Turner Club, October 19, at 11 a.m. Don’t forget, get us your phone number for Post Calls so we can keep in touch. We thank Dormi Funeral Home, Morris Park Avenue and Williamsbridge Road, for the veterans museum in their lobby.

Taps

Past Post Commander Chris  Nugent passed away after a battle with a very aggressive form of cancer. We remember him as someone who wouldn’t hurt anyone and would try to help everyone. He was in ‘Nam with the U.S. Army’s 173rd, and was seriously wounded, earning the Purple Heart Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge for serving over 30 days in a combat zone. By the way, “Swipe” his nickname, had nothing to do with stealing – it was a cleaning product he once sold. He was more than a post member, he was a friend and will be missed.

Chow Hall

Not that this has anything to do with the Post, but in my opinion Pickles Deli on Bruckner Boulevard and the Wicked Wolf are two great local eateries. Try them out.

Until Next Time
