Mt. Carmel presents opera

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church presents the encore performance of the opera Costanzo on Sunday, October 26, at 4 p.m. at 627 E. 187th Street.

Costanza, a medieval Queen of Sicily, was born in the year 1154, shortly after the death of her father, King Roger II of Sicily whose reign was recorded in history as The Golden Age of Sicily. This was an era when the city of Palermo became the Jewel of European culture.

The music of Costanza is by maestro John Marino, distinguished Italian-American composer, conductor and pianist, with the honorary title of artist-in-residence of New York City.

The Libretto is by Florence Bocarius, who is the director of music and organist at Mount Carmel Church.

The cast of Costanza consists of renowned artists of the highest professional order.
