Lehman Center announces first-rate line-up for 2008-09 season

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts announces a diverse and first-rate line-up for its 2008-2009 Season. Executive director Eva Bornstein has prepared a program that will bring the world to the Bronx with attractions from eight countries including China, Brazil, Spain, Russia and West Africa.

“We can’t wait for the season to begin. Audiences will be treated to a whole new state of the art sound system that was designed specifically for our concert hall,” said. Bornstein.

Tickets are on sale now for the new season which offers nearly 20 performances including music to satisfy every taste with Salsa by nine-time Grammy Award winner Eddie Palmieri, Jamaica’s king of Dancehall Reggae Sean Paul, pop/R&B stars The Pointer Sisters with Kool & The Gang, a special holiday concert with José Feliciano, gold-selling Gospel with Donnie McClurkin and Yolanda Adams, and smooth Doo Wop by legendary stars The Drifters, The Shirelles and The Teenagers. There’s also Latin jazz with Poncho Sanchez and Gato Barbieri, elegant classical music with The Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra, Grammy award winner Branford Marsalis with the Filarmonia Brasileira, a special concert by the New York City Opera, freestyle with Judy Torres and Coro, and beloved music from the mountains of Puerto Rico with cuatro master Yomo Toro and more.

Quality and exclusive engagements are the engines that drive the season line up delivering dynamic dance with Compañía Flamenco de José Porcel from Spain, The Russian National Ballet Theatre in a production of Cinderella, Song and Dance Ensemble of West Africa, Break: The Urban Funk Spectacular, the breath-taking National Acrobats of China, and the mesmerizing Cirque Le Masque.

Special discounts are built into the concert hall’s series or in the Create Your Own series by selecting a minimum of three shows for a savings of 10% on the total order and 20% off the total order for six or more shows.
