Soccer coach introduces new team spirit

In his first season as Monroe Mustangs men’s soccer head coach, Marcus DiBernardo is putting a formula in place that he thinks will elevate the program into title contention, possibly as soon as the season that began this week. Through summer practice and pre-season scrimmages Coach DiBernado has seen a difference in the team,.

“It starts with attitude and that translates into work ethic,” he says. “So far, it looks like our PSAL recruits are bringing just the right approach. They take the field expecting to win and that means we have the possibility of being very, very good.”

Monroe kicked off its men’s soccer season on Thursday, September 11, with a dominating 10-0 win over Hostos CC at SUNY Purchase, which serves as Monroe’s home field. The Mustangs will play nine of their first ten games of the season at Purchase.
