What a great week! A positive, productive board meeting on September 30 and the Department of Sanitation held their twice yearly free compost giveaway on Saturday. Get your calendars out – here’s the schedule of events for the rest of the year:
Saturday, October 11 is Comedy Night. Call Jerry at (718) 792 2468 to make your reservations. This is always a great night and we are raffling off a gift basket filled with $600 worth of June Jacobs Spa Products. We will also have available for purchase prints of beautiful black and white photos taken during the construction of the Throgs Neck Bridge.
A Children’s Halloween Party will be held on Friday, October 31. A screening of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is also scheduled. There will also be a Halloween Party on Saturday, November 1 for adults. Check the Yahoo Group (Locust Pointers) or look out for flyers for more info.
On Friday, November 28, get away from the house, your family and all that leftover Thanksgiving turkey and join us for our first “Come Meet the Neighbors” night. It’s a casual family evening of coffee and cake. Pete Gonzalez, one of our board members, brought up the idea based on a conversation he and his wife had regarding our failed attempts at getting a reunion together. Their idea is a great one – let’s reach out to the new people in the neighborhood who may feel that they don’t want to be involved because they don’t know anybody. So come on down, have a Cup O’ Joe and say hello.
Breakfast with Santa is on Saturday, December 20. But what we’re really excited about is our New Year’s Eve Gala, featuring dancing and continuous music provided by the great local band, “Just Nuts”. Buffet dinner and champagne toast at midnight is also included. Call Jerry Landi at (718) 792 2468 to make your reservations. This is sure to be a stellar evening and we are so thankful to Al Belfiore for making the suggestion.
