Pelham Bay Bandits continue great play

The Pelham Bay Bandits, the 11-u A-division travel team has continued their winning ways.

From October 4 through the 10, they won 4 out of 5 games to bring their record to 8-1.

Led by their solid pitching and defense, the Bandits are currently in 1st place in the Pee Wee Reese American League division. The pitching staff of Nino Giardino, Frankie Guiliano, Kevin Hernandez, Cal Romano and Joey Signore has posted a 2.00 E.R.A. with 62 K’s over the last 5 games. The defense led by Matt Flamio, Xavier Ruiz, Tony Rugova, Nicky Sciubba and Eric Solero has comitted only 2 errors for the entire season. “We throw strikes and play fundamental baseball”, said Manager Dom Caggiano. Caggiano, an assistant J.V. coach at Archbishop Spellman recently took the Bandits to Maryland to participate in a Cal Ripken Tournament, where the team had the oppurtunity to play on a replica of Wrigley Field. “The Maryland tournament was fun but as any player on our team will tell you, the one tournament they would all love to win is the District 22”, said coach Joe Giardino, “Matt and Tony won 3 in a row with Van Nest. Frankie and Joey won 2 with Throgs Neck. Every kid dreams about winning one for their little league!”
