Il Club Italiano celebrates heritage

Once again, Il Club Italiano of St. Catharine Academy, sponsored school-wide activities to celebrate Italian Heritage and Culture Month. This year, Il Club featured the teachings of San Francesco d’Assisi.

St. Francis, fondly referred to by Italians as “il poverello” (the poor man), lived a very humble life at the service of all of God’s children. Whatever he did for others; whatever he had, he gave to others. In that spirit, SCA’s A World of Difference and Il Club Italiano joined forces and held a “Just Jeans and Jackets” collection to be donated to those who are most in need.

The St. Catharine Academy school community generously donated boxes of jeans and jackets to be distributed to the homeless during a Midnight Run conducted by Campus Ministry of the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Miss Lucy Zullo, moderator of Il Club Italiano and Sr. Lynn Ann Dalton, moderator of A World of Difference, and their clubs are most grateful to be able to help those who are less fortunate, especially as the cold weather approaches.
