Mite Division
In the first game the O’Conner Carpet Bears beat the Villa Barone Manor Eagles 6 to 0.
In the second game the American A-1 Auto Chiefs defeated the Legends Photography Giants 14 to 0. The Chiefs offense once again was led by a strong offensive line with Jack Walker and Erim Pelinovic providing outstanding blocking. The Chiefs led by Mark Porco were able to get two quick touchdowns with strong running by Lorenzo Maida and Justin Pedraza. A standout play was a reverse led by the blocking of Giovanni Cardenales and a great open field run by Mark “Jacob” Tlaseca. Defensively the lines performance was outstanding led by Liam O’Neill and Ted “TANK” Czerniewski. The line applied constant pressure on the Giants offensive line forcing two fumbles and rushing several plays. Once again strong tackling by line backers Zac Hoina, and Joshua Myers, along with great containment by Marc Porco and Jalen Martinez with a key interception by Hector Hernandez, held the Offense scoreless
Pee Wee Division
The first Peewee game saw the Kleen-Awn Blue Devils beat the Jimmy Ryan’s Crusaders 12 to 0. The Blue Devils had a complete game on both sides of the ball. The offense set the tone early with running back Sharrod Gorum getting a long run that set up quarterback Eric Berrios first touchdown on a power sweep. The second touchdown came on a 30 yard quarterback keeper by Berrios up the middle behind the great blocks of John Tyrell, Robert Ramon and Tyrese Mojica. Defensively the Blue Devils shut down the Crusaders offense with key tackles by Justin Hernandez who was all over the field. Stephen Ramon and Berrios contributed with a sack each. Bo Kendrick-Holmes sealed the win with an interception. The Crusaders played well, only allowing the Blue Devils only two touchdowns. Jonathan Cintron and Isaiah Smith played a solid game both on offense and defense, with both gaining a total of over 60 yards on the ground. On defense, Tyler Zaborski had a great game recording three solo tackles.
The Food Factory Ramblers took over first place in the Peewee Division with a 25 to 0 victory against the Middletown Animal Clinic Spartans. Andrew Geni led the way for the Ramblers offense with 130 yards on the ground and one touchdown. Bryan Lugo had a 75 yard running game to go along with two touchdowns and quarterback Ross Bucolo scored the last Ramblers touchdown. Defensively for the Ramblers, Tyler Scott had two sacks, two drive stopping tackles for losses and a fumble recovery. Austin Mercado chipped in on defense with an interception, while Albert Torres and Jimbo Barry played outstanding to keep the Spartans off the score board. For the Spartans, Joseph Silvestri had a 60 yard catch and run to the 5 yard line, but the Spartans could not get the ball across the goal line. Jordan Dabkowski had a 40 yard run behind the great block of Andre Brown. On defense Nicholas Gennarelli had a sack and two tackles for losses, Eric King had a great open field tackle and Derrick Shirley had two sacks.
In the last Peewee game of the day the Anthony’s Collision Redskins beat the Dr. David Steelers 21 to 0. The Redskins first touchdown came on a double reverse with Angel Nevarez going 45 yards for the score. Tariq “TD” Davis ran 40 yards braking tackles along the way to reach the end zone with the Skins second touchdown. The last Redskins score came from Michael Booth on a 20 yard sweep play. On defense, Ryan Cox came out from the start and continuing all game hitting hard and making key tackles to stop the Steelers all game long and Raymond Pabon had 2 quarterback sacks.
Junior Division
This week’s game between the Silvestri Carpet Javelins and the Ralph Giordano F. H. Saints was one of the hardest games fought so far, as the Saints prevailed 8 to 0. The game remained scoreless for the first half with the Saints and Javelins defenses holding each other at bay. As has been the case this season for the Saints Paget Bramble, Justin Mogg, Elijah Alamo and Sean Sonnemann of the defensive line kept the Javelins from running up the middle forcing them to run to the sides where they were stopped by the work of Zamuki Colon, Jose Detres, Josh Nugent, David Rivas-Torres and Jeremy Vega. Adding their speed and strength were Michael Lynch and Kevin Payano. The second half saw the Saints offense make some changes in the line which resulted in a successful touchdown run by Vega. On the defensive side in the second half two key tackles were made by Stephen Ramos causing the Javelins to lose ground. A third game clinching defensive tackle was made by Rivas-Torres when he caught the Javelins flanker in the end zone resulting in a safety. After a shaky first half, the Saints once again came out with their best game to outdo their record of an undefeated season. The Javelins defense also had a great game holding the high power Saints to only one touchdown. Angel Arroyo had two sacks while Jonathan Cardona, Carlos Flores, Nelson Rivera and Jayson Ramos made some great tackles all game long to keep the Javelins in the game until the last minute safety. The Javelins had only one good offensive drive that ended with a fumble on the Saints 10 yard line.
The game between the McNulty F. H. Rams and Paddy Doherty’s Black Knights ended with the Rams on top 6 to 0.
Pop Warner Teams
The Kaseman Chiropractic Peewee Warriors moved to phase two of their season on Sunday 10/25 when they squared off against the Pride Lions of Brooklyn to open up the playoffs. As has been the case all season the Warriors got a balanced effort from both the offense and defense in their 26-0 victory. The defense recorded its 5th shutout and limited the Lions to three first downs while displaying the hard hitting style that it has become known for. Caesar Holcomb was once again the catalyst as he was everywhere. Edwin Webber and Angel Aponte did a great job in pass coverage while Donvito Kuinlan played linebacker, defensive line and anchored the offensive line in an ironman performance. That offensive line in addition to great blocking by split end Joey Alba allowed tailback Shane Cherry to have a career day as he found the end-zone four times for touchdowns. His scoring runs came from 63, 20, and 12 yards as well as a TD reception of 40 yards. All in all he had 151 yards of total offense and was a force all afternoon. Quarterback James Werner had another good day as he threw for 117 yards and a TD. The game was sealed on a late interception by outside linebacker DJ Cassidy which put the Warriors in the championship game on November 2.
