With sketchy details currently available as of press time, a Throggs Neck bank was the victim of a robbery attempt on Monday, October 27 at approximately 12:20 p.m.
According to the 45th Precinct community affairs office, a lone robber, a man, approached a teller at New York Community Bank, also known as CFS Bank, at 3681 E. Tremont Avenue and made a threat while asking for money.
The teller handed over the money that was asked for, with surveillance cameras picking up the entire incident. The suspect fled on foot with approximately $2,000 in cash.
“A level-one alert was called, and we had police from all over coming over here,” said 45th community affairs officer Mike O’Conner. “No weapon was displayed. The aviation and K-9 unit responded. The investigation is ongoing.”
O’Conner said that the Major Case Squad, as well as the 45th Precinct detective squad is investigating the crime. There was no word, as of press time, indicating that an arrest had been made.
The branch of New York Community Bank in Throggs Neck did not comment on the matter, and referred all questions to their home office.
