Samuel Young Legion Post 620

Hello all!

This is going to be a busy month for us here at the Post.

We are collecting non-perishable foods for the Love Kitchen at St. Peter’s Church in the Square. We have the Holiday Party at the VA on Sunday, November 16 . The day before, Saturday, the 15, we will be packing up the gifts to bring over. These include all the books, video tapes, and gifts that were donated by the folks in the community. I will be going to Harmon’s with money from the Post to purchase toiletries, candy and gum and sundries.

Thanks to Arline Thienel who donated a gift card to Staples, we already have the pens. We here will provide the paper, stamps, envelopes card and so forth. Thanks again every one for your caring. These shut-ins really appreciate everything, especially your remembering. Speaking of the packing up of the gifts, you volunteers know who you are so please show up. If any one out there in “Bronx Times Reporter Land” would like to come along with us to the VA, and see what we do, please call the Post at (718) 822-8873.

Come on out for the Veterans’ Day Parade. Show your support and thanks for the Vets. Remember, if you’re reading this thank a teacher. If you’re reading this in English, thank a vet.

Short column this week.
