The executive board and members of the association wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Janet Koys, our membership chairman, on the passing of her mother recently. Janet has been a mainstay of our executive committee for a very long time and our thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family at this time so they may find peace at this difficult time.
I would also like to mention a wonderful Throggs Necker who passed away recently. Charlie Carroccetto, a WWII veteran, a consummate cheese maker and stand up guy for every cause he believed in, passed away recently. He lived over 91 years and lived his life as a fine example to us all. Charlie, we will miss you and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family.
Our thanks got to Assemblyman Mike Benedetto and Raphael Dominguez of the U.S. Census Bureau for their thoughtful presentations at our last meeting. We hope you all enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday and look forward to the Christmas season fast approaching.
The Throggs Neck Merchants did a great job with the lights. Tremont Avenue looks very festive thanks to them. It looks like this is the most lights we have had in my memory. Great job! I hope every merchant who was able donated to this wonderful spectacular light show …and those who didn’t don’t deserve to have this community support their stores or restaurants. I will be very happy to tell you who didn’t contribute in a subsequent column.
There is a Holiday Mail Call Program that has been initiated by the Red Cross who distributes the cards received to our wounded warriors that are in hospitals around the country and overseas. If you could just take the time to send a signed card to the program, your thoughtfulness will go a long way.
