Korony American Legion Post 253

Around The Post

(Since 1927)

The next meeting of the Theodore Korony Post 253 will be at the Turner Club, third Sunday, December 21, at 11 a.m. After the meeting we will have a Post Family Christmas get-together with drinks and snacks. Spouses are invited.

Start thinking about ideas for the February dinner dance.

I forgot to thank Colleen and her crew for the great job running the Bingo for the Support the Troops packages and to all our friends and neighbors who contributed to this event. Thanks to Sam Young Post, too. It was a little like the good old days for the Korony Post crew. Hope the damages were kept to a minimum. If not, they can send the bill to Commander Pat!

Around The Media

That PostCalls thing is pretty cool. Next time I’m adding music. If you’re not getting these notifications, let someone know and we’ll look into it for you. As for Pearl Harbor Day, I was watching DVDs of Victory at Sea the other day. Anyone remember Combat or McHale’s Navy! My dad used to say there would be not TV shows if it weren’t for the wary.

Maybe it’s me, but it seems almost everyone I know, who was in Vietnam, has some form of cancer or illness. It’s not much of a help to the guys, but I’m really getting a bit angry at this. I think it’s time for a full court press and for outfits like the American Legion and DAV to be a bit more aggressive in holding the government accountable. Women veterans seem to be especially underserved. Remember, the veteran is not a beggar; he or she only wants a fair deal.
