Throggs Neck Merchants Association

Throggs Neck Merchants wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and hope you had a great day!

The Bronx Trolley was cancelled on Saturday, December 20, due to the snow we had the night before. Did you like having the Bronx Trolley around for the two weeks it was here?  It was riding up and down East Tremont Avenue to pick up shoppers during our holiday season.  The trolley was a joint effort last week by the Throggs Neck Merchants and co-sponsored by sux of our local merchants.  Please let us know if you thought it was good for the community.  We are looking for ways to keep residents shopping locally.  As the gas prices decline, the temptation is there to drive, however, please keep in mind we always want to keep the local community thriving.  Vacant stores are not appealing to anyone.

We are continuing in the Miracle on 34th Street theme and will be working with neighboring community associations such as Pelham Bay and Westchester Square to help you find the products and services you need if we can’t provide them.  Feel free to reach out to us via email at info@throggsneck.org or call us at (718) 892-1859, ask for Tommy.  You can always mail us your comments to PO Box 508, Bronx, NY 10465.

There is still time for you to enter the I-Pod contest.  Log onto our website, because we are giving away to one lucky winner an I-Pod Nano.  The I-pod Nano was co-sponsored by James McQuade of Schuyler Hill Funeral Home.  In order to enter you need only be 18 years old, a resident of the Bronx, and have an e-mail address. Click on the Register Now – IPOD in the upper right corner of the screen.   Once you give us your information, you are automatically entered.  There will be other consolation prizes awarded to others who do not win the I-pod.  The e-mail entries we receive from the contest shoppers will be added to our mailing list and receive discounts, coupons and information of upcoming events from the Throggs Neck Merchants in the future.  Please enter now and tell your family and friends to enter as well.  Throggs Neck Merchants members are not eligible to enter the contest.  The winners will be chosen on January 28 at our general meeting.  They will be announced in our article on February 5.

It was brought to our attention that a few businesses were not listed as Holiday Lights Contributors in the December 11 edition in error.  The names not mentioned were Throggs Neck Auto Care, Throgs Neck Shoto Kan,  Throggs Neck Clipper and Tosca Café.   We thank these business owners for their contributions and hope you will acknowledge the Holiday Lights the next time you are in their stores.  Happy New Year!
