Annual South Bronx Earth Fest set

A group of local businesses, community organizations and environmental groups today announced plans for the second annual GetGreen: South Bronx Earth Fest, to take place on Saturday, April 25, from noon to 4 p.m. at St. Mary’s Park, on St. Ann’s Avenue and 146th Street. This free festival will celebrate the environment and the culture of the South Bronx with an afternoon full of family activities, entertainment and education.

Event organizers include the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, Bronx River Alliance, Bronx YMCA, Bronx GreenUp, City Matters LLC, Council on the Environment of NYC (CENYC), LAS Consulting, Materials for the Arts/NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Nos Quedamos, Office of Recycling Outreach and Education, the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBRO) and Waste Management of New York.

The GetGreen festival is designed to raise public awareness on sustainability issues and will include information on recycling and reusing materials, reducing waste and other environmental initiatives.
