Lil’ Angels Academy at 818 Clarence Avenue held their first big fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The young children raised almost $1600 for Jerry’s kids.

The Hop-a-Thon met its goal through parents and family members sponsoring the children to hop through a course on the facility’s blacktop in beautiful weather. It took place on Thursday, April 9 and included a visit from the Easter bunny to get the kids engaged in the holiday weekend.

Daniela Leggio who runs Lil’Angels with her partner said that the kids hoping for a good cause was a learning experience for them. They plan on working with other charities and sponsoring similar events in the future.

“The Muscular Dystrophy Association called us and we decided we wanted to do something to help kids who are less fortunate,” Leggio said. “We are good role-models for the little ones when we show them how lucky they are.”

Leggio said that she was thankful to all of the parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who sponsored the kids and gave to such a worthy cause despite the economic difficulties now plaguing the country.
