Great Horned Owl spotted in NYBG

The Great Horned Owl is at home in the Bronx. Several males, females, and chicks of the breed of bird were spotted recently in the New York Botanical Garden. They live in trees of the garden’s 50-acre natural forest.

The bird’s “horns” are not actually horns; they are tufts of feathers. The Great Horned Owl is one of the largest owls found in North America, with a wingspan between 40 and 60 inches long.
