Applications for 2009 youth jobs

Assemblyman Michael R. Benedetto announces that the Department of Youth and Community Development is now accepting applications for 2009 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).

The Summer Youth Employment program is designed to give young people in New York City an opportunity to have a summer job while gaining real world work experience. “I was thrilled to learn that the Summer Youth Employment program was being expanded this year,” said Assemblyman Benedetto.

Despite the fiscal crisis facing the State budget, Benedetto was able work with his colleagues in the State Legislature to secure funding for SYEP.

“I strongly encourage young people in our community to take advantage of this great program, and I believe it is important that we continue to support a variety of programs for our youth,” concluded the assemblyman.

To obtain more information or to submit an application for the Summer Youth Employment Program please visit Department of Youth and Community Development website at www.nyc.gov/dycd, or call 311 and ask about SYEP.
