The East Bronx History Forum will focus on Robert Moses and his effect on the development of Pelham Bay Park. There will be two speakers this month, Doug Hearle, a retired reporter from the New York Times and Thomas Vasti, the vice president of the forum who also serves as a docent with both Gracie Mansion and the Bartow-Pell Mansion. Hearle knew Moses well as he covered the political scene for over 30 years for the Times and Vasti has made a study of the many facets of the history of Pelham Bay Park. Not only do both men know their subject well, they are also passionate about it. It will prove to be a fascinating evening with many insights into this complicated man and his various controversial plans for Pelham Bay Park.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Huntington Free Library located at 9 Westchester Square. The library is conveniently located across the street from the IRT #6 Pelham Bay Line. The meeting is open to the public and there is no admission fee.
