Viking, HIR team up for clothing drive

The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale (HIR) teamed up with A-1 First Class – Viking Moving & Storage and The Global Jewish Assistance and Relief Network (GJARN) to host a clothing drive where donations remarkably filled a 26-foot moving truck with a 1,500 cubic foot storage capacity – room enough to transport a three bedroom house. The bi-annual charity clothing drive was held earlier this month in Riverdale.

HIR – located on Henry Hudson Parkway – served as the drop-off site and coordinated volunteer staffing of 12 children and young adults from the congregation to assist the more than 200 people who came with bags of clothing to donate to the drive.

A-1 First Class –Viking Moving & Storage of Brooklyn, NY, supplied the moving truck and driver as well as coordinated all transportation logistics of donated items to the distribution point in Brooklyn.

A-1 First Class transported the massive volume of donated clothing to the GJARN distribution center in Brooklyn, where it distributed to the needy.
