Graffiti on a wooden fence removed by Klein

Graffiti on the wooden fence of an unused parking lot at the corner of Continental Avenue and Pelham Parkway South in Pelham Bay has been cleaned free of charge by a local elected official.

The fence at the vacant lot borders a number of private homes on East 197th Street, and residents are grateful to Senator Jeff Klein’s graffiti removal program for eliminating the vandalism at the city-owned parking lot.

“It’s nice to know that with the help of Senator Klein’s graffiti removal service, the neighborhood was restored to its former pristine condition that everyone in the community works hard to achieve and takes pride in,” said Pelham Bay Taxpayer member Anita Valenti. “Leaving the graffiti encourages further vandalism and we cannot allow that to happen.

The parking lot had been a matter of contention recently when the former leaseholder rented spaces to trucks. Now the lot has been restored to the care of city. Klein said he was happy the fence at the rear of the lot was finally cleaned of graffiti.

“I’m happy to have cleaned this property for all of the residents of Pelham Bay” said Senator Klein. “It’s vitally important to keep our neighborhoods clean and safe, and my graffiti removal program does just that.”
