Vacca praises Per Scholas

At a benefit reception packed with a who’s who of the city’s top financiers and philanthropists, Councilman James Vacca praised the Bronx-based nonprofit organization Per Scholas for its innovative programming and stellar record of connecting low-income New Yorkers with top-rate technology.

The fundraiser, held at the New York Stock Exchange and dubbed “Auction4Kids,” featured entertainment, a live auction, and a silent auction on the trading floor. All funds raised will benefit the Comp2Kids program.

“I have had the good fortune to work with Per Scholas many times since being elected to the Council and every time I am even more impressed by the professionalism, the creativity, and the enthusiasm with which this organization tackles some of the toughest challenges facing our borough,” said Vacca, who has previously allocated several City Council grants to support Per Scholas’ work with senior citizens.

“Whether it’s getting technology into the hands of our young people, training local residents for good-paying jobs in the computer sciences, or doing our planet a service by recycling computer parts, Per Scholas is a one-in-a-million kind of organization that I will be proud to support for many years into the future.”
