P.S. 71 Mock Trail Team celebrates trip to the finals

The Mock Trial Club of P.S. 71 was fortunate to be in the Final Round on May 29, at Bronx County Court. This program is a wonderful opportunity for 7th and 8th graders to work with attorneys, and learn about trials and court procedures.

The team was coached by Brian Mardon Esq., from the firm of Spiegel and Barbato. He devoted many volunteer hours to help the members.

The Thurgood Marshall Jr. Mock Trial Program, Inc. was organized by Elizabeth Taylor, Eddie McShann and Marsha Michael, who devote many hours to helping teams move on during the competitions. The staff at the court are wonderful to all participants.

The P.S. 71 team came in 2nd place, enjoyed a delicious dinner, and received many lovely gifts. Raquel Quesada, a former assistant principal, began this program in the school, three years ago with Ms. Marrero and Ms. Sanders.

A special thank you to Cathy Felicione, who makes sure the students have the proper travel arrangements. Team members are Amanda Altuchoff, Vincent Capriola, Joshua Castillo, Matthew Cerini, Jessica Contreras, Peter Dellipaoli, Ginitze Familia, Anthony Henriquez, Monika Markaj, Muna Nagi, Nicole Ortiz, Kyle Reichert, Joseph Rodriguez, Robert Sulla and Cassandra Torres.
