Bronx Chamber hosts Business & Energy Expo

Yankee Stadium was abuzz with excitement on Wednesday, June 24 when members of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce joined their counterparts from around the five boroughs and Westchester for the New York Business & Energy Expo.

The expo took place in the Legend Room at Yankee Stadium and brought together eight different business alliances: Bronx Chamber of Commerce, Hunts Point Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Queens Chamber of Commerce, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Business Council of Westchester, and the Caribbean-American Chamber of Commerce. The Bronx Tourism Council also took part in the all-day business-networking event.

Over 150 companies sent representatives whose exhibits showcased the best that their organizations offered, and included businesses of all sizes.

Bronx Chamber of Commerce CEO and president Lenny Caro said the gathering focused on the theme of making it in a tough economic climate.

“The event was designed to stimulate the economy and bring businesspeople together by encouraging them to succeed in the current economy,” Caro said. “We had over one thousand people come through the door. We have received much e-mail saying the Business & Energy Expo helped individuals to improve their sales.”

Caro said the Business & Energy Expo was the most successful event of its kind this year, and that having it at Yankee Stadium helped draw a huge crowd because the baseball club offered tours of the stadium.

“We got across to the attendees that with a positive outlook businesspeople can succeed in today’s economy,” Caro stated.

Sponsors for the Business & Energy Expo were T.D. Bank, Cort Furniture, Waste Management, New York Power Authority, Monroe College, Verizon, Capital One Bank, and Pelham-Split Rock Golf Course.
