After becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Youth Volleyball League with a top record of 21 wins and one loss, St. Clare’s Girls varsity volleyball team took home a championship in the league’s playoffs held at Cardinal Spellman High School.

St. Clare’s girl’s varsity team defeated Holy Name of Jesus School to become champions of the 12-team grammar school volleyball league that includes teams from the Bronx and Westchester. The final game of the season was held on Sunday, May 21.

“I am happy for my daughter and thankful for the work of Coach Allison Doherty in inspiring these girls to reach their full potential,” said Steve DeMartis, a parent of one of the varsity team’s players.

Under Coach Allison Doherty’s leadership, St. Clare’s girl’s volleyball teams have taken home many championships and achieved impressive records over the past 20-years, DeMartis said.
