Grandpa got caught doing what?
The sale of narcotics has been a chronic problem for decades, but a recent bust nabbed three residents that have entered their golden years.
On Thursday, June 18 at 7 a.m., Leonard Petito, 61, Robert Petito, 65, and Carolann Masterson, 65 were found in possession of heroin.
The investigation, conducted by Bronx Narcotics, led by Captain Kevin Nickleson, resulted in a search warrant of the basement floor of 2511 Cruger Avenue where the seniors were found with over 40 decks of heroin, an amount police believe they were about to sell.
According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office’s complaint, the trio was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, 4th degree, 5th degree and 7th degree.
“Coordination is key between the precinct and the narcotics bureau,” said Captain John Greeley of the 49th Precinct. “They are doing a great job and targeting specific locations, they help us out a lot. They do a fantastic job under Nickleson.”
The report further states that the defendants ‘did knowingly and unlawfully possess one or more preparations, compounds, mixtures or substances containing a narcotic drug and said preparation, compounds, mixtures or substances are of an aggregate weight of one-eighth ounce or more.’
Additionally, Robert Petito had a prior arrest on Wednesday, June 10, for possession of a controlled substance after being observed in an exchange with another individual, who was not apprehended.
“I’m very surprised at the ages of the people dealing heroin,” said Joe Thompson, member of Community Board 11. “We do know that Bronx Narcotics is outreaching to the community for information and help.”
