Distinguishing the work and dedication of two individuals, the Throggs Neck Merchant Association recently announced the selection of the businessman and businesswoman of the year.
Wayne Baker, of Frank Bee, and Rosemarie Moschetta, of Louis Seafood Restaurant, were selected through a TNMA vote for their years of service to the community and contributions to the Merchant Association and the betterment of the business district.
“I love the people selected, they are both great and work well with the merchant association. From our inception in 2007, and even before that when we started doing the holiday lights, Rosemarie and Wayne were there helping us, so it’s fitting they were nominated and elected because both are fantastic people,” said John Cerini, president of the TNMA. “When I announced the winners at our meeting they received a standing ovation.”
Frank Bee, originally founded in 1957 by Baker’s father, has expanded over the years to include numerous stores, which can supply virtually anything one would need, including one of the largest costume selections in the tri-state area, along with and carnival equipment and games through Frank Bee’s Carnival Time.
“I love the Bronx and my father used to always say customers in Throggs Neck are the best in the world, so I look forward to coming to work everyday because I love the people I do business with,” said Baker. “I love this community and being apart of Throggs Neck.”
Since 1947 Louis Seafood Restaurant has been a family-run establishment and a neighborhood landmark. Rosemarie Moschetta came into the business with her husband in 1990, and helped it grow and expand to the fine dining offered today.
“Anybody that comes through my door we are always here to give a helping hand by contributing food or offering my catering hall for meetings,” said Moschetta. “We are here to serve the community with quality food and friendly service and to lend a hand when we can.”
The duo will be honored at the 2nd Annual Dinner Dance on Friday, November 6 at Villa Baron Manor. The celebration is open to the public, so community members and those wishing to show support for the honorees are welcome to attend, at $100 per person.
“It’s fifteen to twenty minutes of awards and then the rest of the night is about celebrating the honorees and having a good time to celebrate the success of the Throggs Neck Merchant Association,” said Cerini.
