P.S. 89 accepting registration

P.S. 89 has space available for more students, and area parents are being called on to fill the gap and enroll their children.

According to Fran Palmieri, parent coordinator at P.S. 89, school administrators recently discovered available space in each grade.

A misunderstanding with registration in the pre-k program has opened up 16 spots. Palmieri is hoping parents who may have decided to keep their children home or sent them to distant schools will take this opportunity to enroll.

Additionally, at least four to eight seats are available in each grade from kindergarten through the 8th grade, with each class capping at a maximum of 27 students.

“The academic scores in our school have increased tremendously and we have the most dedicated teachers and staff I have seen in my 26 years in the public school system,” said Palmieri. “We are hoping to see more kids register now that we have open seats because we want to see our local children receive a great education.”

Parents wishing to enroll their children do not have to be zoned for P.S. 89 and should contact the office at (718) 653-0835.
