New banners for WP Road

Out with the old and in with the new!

Over the next several weeks visitors to the White Plains Road Business Improvement District will notice a change to their beloved shopping strip.

After three years of exposure to the elements, the old banners that display the BID’s name and logo will be replaced with bright new banners meant to beautiful the area.

“They have been up for around three years, which is a long life for a banner, and they have become worn and tattered so they have to be changed,” said Larry Prospect, president of the White Plains Road BID.

The new banners will keep the same logo and white and red color theme, but will display the name of a sponsor as well.

In an effort to both save money and promote local businesses, the BID offered each store a chance to sponsor one or several banners.

“You can put you name up so it targets people elsewhere on the street who may not know your store is down the block,” said Vincenzo Cafaro, owner of BX Sports, 2181 White Plains Road. “It enhances White Plains Road so it doesn’t look like every other block and brings in more people.”

Money saved through the new sponsored banners will be used towards other advertising opportunities for the BID.

“The BID used to cover all expenses but now we have sponsors to help defray the cost and can use that money for other means,” said Prospect.

All banners are expected to be in place prior to the holiday season.

“It just looks nice to have the new banners, it adds to the shopping experience,” stated Prospect. “We like people to have a nice pleasant experience when they are walking down our street.”
