Bronxite wins Colorful Life contest

Jacqueline Wayans of the Bronx is a grand prize winner in the Colorful Life contest. A contest celebrating women who exude confidence, optimism, compassion, style and personality. The contest is sponsored by Maybelline New York in partnership with Meredith 360°, and bestselling author Candace Bushnell, one of America’s most colorful authors and personalities.

Hundreds of women participated in the contest by writing an essay detailing what makes their lives colorful. The three Grand Prize winners Jacqueline Wayans of New York, Heidi Brady of Chicago, and Kara Forney of Phoenix were chosen because of the compelling nature of their stories.

As a Grand Prize winner, Jacquie won an all expense paid trip to New York City, a $1000 shopping spree, a makeover, and a feature interview on Candace Buschnell’s webisode,The Broadroom, and much more. The webisode featuring Jacquie, Heidi and Kara will debut October 23 and can be viewed at www.maybelline.com.

Joseph Grafals of the Bronx began his first year at Saint Michael’s College this semester. Grafals graduated from Xavier High School before coming to Saint Michael’s, which is located in Burlington, Vermont.

Amber Medina of the Bronx has been awarded a Bernard and Dorothy Layton Scholarship to Pace University for the 2009-20010 academic year. The award was based on academic success and professional promise. Medina is majoring in General Accounting at Pace’s campus in New York.

Bronx Community College’s Homecoming 2009 – on the campus – which was the springboard to your career. Meet former classmates, share memories, catch up with news and rekindle student spirit. Alumni festivities will take place on Sat., Oct. 17, in Colston Hall Lower Level on the BCC campus, 2155 University Avenue at West 181st Street.

Celebrate “World Showcase,” an evening that will spotlight the 109 countries represented by current students on the BCC campus. The cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. followed by dinner. Food from the following countries and regions will be featured: Sweden, Japan, China, Chile, Australia, Italy, the Middle East, Spain, India, and Japan.
