Zodiacs at cross country event

Zodiacs Track Team started the cross country season with great results. On Sunday, October 11, Zodiacs had 14 athletes participant in the MAC-USATF Cross Country Youth Invitation at Van Cortlandt Park and won two trophies and seven medals. Surprising her parents was 8-year old athlete Geovannia Tolbert winning her first track trophy with a time of 7 minutes and 32 seconds in a 1 mile run. Winning the other trophy was Beverly Seignious with her personal best of 17.07 minutes in the 2.5 mile run. Beverly who also runs for Truman High School is considered by many the top freshman cross country athlete in the Bronx. Shocking his teammates, was (l-r) Darren Dawson, for the first, beating his teammates Hugh Fraser and Shem Spencer in the 1.8 miles run. They all medaled. These three (with one more) are going to make a great 4 by 4 relay team this coming in-door season. Also medaling were Elijah Hawood, Alyah Lightbourne, and Aalaya Wajid in the 1.8 mile and Quaniece Spencer in the 2.5 mile run.

The Zodiacs thank Co-op City Building 12 president Sonya Maxwell and the Building 12 Association for their support in the Zodiacs raffle. They are having a raffle drive to subsidize the cost of their much-needed new uniforms. They will announce the winners on October 20.
