Police Officer Ivanne Vizcarrondo and Police Officer William Castillo of the 49th Precinct received the October Cop of the Month Award, sponsored by Senator Jeff Klein, during the 49th Precinct Community Council meeting held on Tuesday, October 27.
Vizcarrondo and Castillo, while on patrol, received a radio call for shots fired along Bronx Park East, on Saturday, September 19.
Upon arriving at the scene police observed Lamont Busher, of 1780 Lafayette Avenue, and David McKay, of 1720 Watson Avenue, crouching behind a tree by Maran Place trying to elude the police.
Vizcarrondo and Castillo found the pair in possession of a gun and made the arrest at approximately 12:20 a.m.
According to Captain John Greeley of the 49th Precinct, the men have a history of arrests.
“They did a fantastic job and this arrest will help us a lot,” said Greeley.
