Samuel Young Legion Post

Hello all!

Well, I was at the parade, were you?

The music was playing, the flags were snapping in the breeze and I felt an urge to re-enlist. However, I sat down until the feeling passed. It was a beautiful day.

The evening before, my post had a fundraiser for our adopted platoon in Afghanistan. My Boosters and S.A.L. raised over $700 to go to the purchase of goodies and needed items for the troops. Troy Willie’s Band and Dem Guys Band provided the terrific music for the listening and dancing pleasure. Best of all it was at no charge. Thanks again, bands. Marty Carroll did the cooking, Kathy and Dennis brought the chili and two six foot heroes were in attendance. Karen nailed the 50/50. All in all, a good time was had.

If your post would like a web site give me a call at the post on Friday from noon to 6 p.m. at (718) 822-8873 or my cell at (914) 400-3756. I have the start up info for you. There is a low start up fee of $299. and each year thereafter, a renewal fee of $24. That’s only $20 per month.

If you are not computer savvy, shanghai a teen and make him or her a Booster, teens know everything, I know I did.

Keep in mind the holiday party at the VA on Sunday, November 29. I’ll need packers on Saturday, the 28th.

Also, keep in mind our collection of non-perishable food stuffs for the Love Kitchen at St. Paul’s Church in the Square.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. There will be no column next week as I will in pursuit of the elusive Prince of the Forest.
