Locust Point Civic Association

Welcome to the fall season, my favorite time of the year. With fall comes our annual kids Halloween party, which is always a great time, the children and adults really look forward to this event.

For me, Halloween was just as cool as Christmas, maybe better.

I love how the costumes reflect the top celebrities of year. This Halloween we had Balloon boy, Octo Mom, Bernie Madoff and my favorite rouge Sarah Palin.

I remember when the top costumes were Charlie Brown and Casper the friendly ghost.

And just to let you know, I still dress up and treat orr treat with my wife and daughter and was glad to see many other adults did the same.

We have a couple of events coming up that I would like to talk about.

On November 22nd we are hosting THE ART OF SOUND.

We will showcase a group of local artists who will display their work at the civic as part of an afternoon of Art and Music. Local Musician Elizabeth Glushko and The Cellar Trio will be performing their new CD live.

I feel it’s important to showcase local talent and we hope to make this event happen a couple of times a year.

The show will take placP place.

We will open at 2 p.m. and The Cellar Trio will perform at 4 p.m., we hope you can all stop by and support local artists.

We will also host another Comedy Night on January 30.

Comedy Night is another popular event, and this time we have a new group of comics who hope to step it up a notch. This event fills up fast so please get in touch with me at landijerry@yahoo.com. Like I always say, don’t sleep on this event.

For those of you who don’t know, the civic has been open on Friday nights for members to come down and socialize. Chrys and Val have hosted a German Oktoberfest, make your own cookie night, and pub night. We will start to post upcoming theme nights on our yahoo group locust_pointers .

Chrys has also started a garden club that will meet at the civic on Saturday mornings. For more information, contact Chrys at cnapolitano@netzero.com

Our next general meeting will be on Tuesday, December 1 at 8 p.m.

We have many plans for 2010 and always welcome the input of our residents to better serve the community.

See you soon.
