The Fordham Road Business Improvement District announced that 76 BID businesses are participating in a special Holiday Shopping Promotion in which they will offer 10% public discounts (consumers must display one of the many BID sponsored newspaper/magazine advertisements, downloadable online coupons or a MetroCard at the time of purchases, some restrictions may apply) from Friday, December 4 through Sunday, December 20. A portion of these businesses will also have extended shopping hours on each Friday until 9 p.m. during the promotion dates.
BID-sponsored print advertisements are running in the Bronx Times Reporter, the Daily News, the Mount Hope Monitor, the Norwood News and Time Out New York Magazine. There will also be web and on-air radio promotions and television commercials.

Napier’s artwork is often participatory in nature, with a focus on photography, video, surveillance, and performance. This installation will work directly with the social and physical spaces of the Bronx Blue Bedroom Project.

The Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture will show The Tall Blond Man With One Black Shoe on Sat., Dec. 5, 7 pm at the Society Meeting House, 4450 Fieldston Road, corner of Manhattan College Parkway.
In the midst of an internal power struggle at a French secret service agency, Toulouse, the chief of the organization, plays a trick on Milan, a subordinate hungry for his job. Toulouse picks out a citizen at random and instructs his rival to keep close watch. Completely oblivious to what’s going on, the innocent suspect goes about his business, while all of his simple actions are being mis-interpreted by the ager Milan.
Movies begin with an introduction and are followed by discussion. A donation towards the Film Club of $3 to $5 per person will be accepted at the door. The society reserves the right to provide an alternative film if a video is unavailable.

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, in conjunction with Aurora Communications, Inc., presents Navidad Para El Pueblo, a Christmas celebration featuring the unique jibaro music from the mounts of Puerto Rico on Sat., Dec. 5, at 8 pm. The concert will feature Yomo Toro and El Topo Antonio Caban Vale. The artist will be backed by Zon Del Barrio. Choreographing the show is Gilda Rivera Pantoja. Twenty dancers will perform.
