Our Lady of Solace ramps up donations

A handicapped accessible ramp is on its way Our Lady of Solace Church, thanks to the generosity of others.

For the past two years, pastor Robert Badillo has collected donations to make the church more accessible to disabled parishioners.

“Parishioners that want to come in with walkers, wheelchairs or motorized wheelchairs are more and more common,” Badillo said. “We want to make the church accessible to them.”

In the past, parish staff members have put out an old wooden ramp. But that ramp is no longer functional, Badillo explained.

The new ramp will be installed at the church’s Holland Avenue side entrance. Badillo hopes it will be in place within the next few months.

On Thursday, November 19, Daniel Fasolino of the Morris Park Kiwanis Club presented a $750 donation to be put towards the ramp.

Anyone who wishes to contribute to the Our Lady of Solace ramp fund may contact the parish at (718) 863-3282.
